Camp Mak-A-Dream

So, as most of you know, I have cancer. I was diagnosed May 14, 2007. It's really rare and was found in my salicary gland (talk about being unique in all that you do). Anyways, I'm doing well and am in "remission", though because this cancer isn't curable it mostly means that at the moment any cancer that's in my body isn't large enough to detect. Last summer I attended a couple of what I call "cancer camps". One, Camp Quality, is held in Petoskey and is actually coming up in a week or so. That one is pretty unique in that each camper is assigned a "companion", an adult councelor to chill with them for the week. I have the same companion this year as I did last year, so I'm pretty excited about that. Jammie is awesome, so I'm looking forward to another kick-ass week. My other camp is called Camp Mak-A-Dream, and it's in Montana. I absolutely adore it. One kind of cool thing is that the camp was started by couple from nearby Birmingham, MI on their still operating ranch in Gold Creek, Montana. As the camp has it's own campus, including a medical facility that can administer chemo and the like, they are able to offer year-round camps for all ages, including young adults. This is pretty rare, and pretty awesome. The camp is absolutely gorgeous. I don't want to go home once I am there. I love the mountains, I love the people, I love everything about this place. I am really hoping to work there next summer. Anyways, here are a bunch of pictures. It's a truly magical place. Enjoy.
